My name is Matthew (AKA) Boone; a visual artist and freelance creative specialising in music and promotional video.
When my days of trying to break through in bands were coming to a close sometime in 2010, I became one of the founding fathers of Scruff of the Neck – a then regional gig promoter that ran a independent record label, small festival and recording studio to name but a few strings from our bow.
Our aim was was to help develop and attempt to break local bands by offering platforms and support that simply wasn’t available during our own playing days. One such way that we began to do this by offering free video production for our artists, which I picked up the basic skills to be able to facilitate whilst studying Multimedia & Video at Universidade do Porto in 2013, when on the international Erasmus exchange during my Visual Arts degree at University of Salford.
Fast forward to 2017 and I am now a full-time freelance videographer, working both independently and collectively on a number of exciting creative projects.
After leaving Scruff of the Neck in order to take some time out and travel during 2015, the company has gone from strength-to-strength to become a national touring agent running around 200 gigs a year. I continue to work closely with both Scruff of the Neck and their artists, producing music and promotional videos and accompanying bands to visually document their overseas ventures (Delamere at the International Music Summit Ibiza in May 2016 / Larkins German Tour in May 2017).
Part of my time is also contracted to the extremely talented boutique video production company Video Ink as Producer / Director. Here we create highly stylised videos for the music industry and commercial brands, working with the likes of Sony, Kerrang! and the BBC.
